Pilgrimage Homeschool Science Olymipad Team is the only non school-affiliated team of over 70 schools competing in Maryland. Pilgrimage has been highly competitive since 2010, coming 1st in the state of Maryland four times to represent Maryland at the national tournament. Our Division B or Middle School team has never placed under the top 5 of 30 in the state tournament.
In Science Olympiad, students compete in events, which are essentially tests of their knowledge in many different scientific areas.
There are three types of events:

Study events simply compose of a subject test (i.e., Meteorology).

Build events require students to create a scientific device (i.e., Detector Building).

Lab events consist of a test and hands-on analysis portion (i.e. Forensics).

PILGRIMAGE'S MIDDLE SCHOOL TEAM WINS SECOND PLACE AT 2023 STATE TOURNAMENT!

On April 22nd, 2023, Pilgrimage Homeschool competed at the 2023 Maryland State Tournament. Pilgrimage's middle school team entered States from winning 3rd place at the Central Maryland Regional. Pilgrimage improved its score from Regionals by 58 points, overtaking Burleigh Manor Middle School to win the 2nd place trophy.
